School-Based Program
Our School-Based program allows a volunteer to visit their Little at their school for up to an hour each week. Our program is offered in various schools in Knox, Blount, Anderson, Loudon, Scott and Sullivan counties. The mentor and child can visit in the library to work on homework or improve reading skills, play on the playground or eat lunch together in the cafeteria. Teachers are flexible to fit the volunteer's schedule, confident that the relationship will positively improve the child's educational experience.
A Big can help a child discover a world of possibilities and opportunities simply by being a genuine friend. And our volunteers consistently say that being part of a BBBS match is even more enjoyable and fulfilling for them than it is for their Littles.
For more information on becoming a Big please contact our agency at (865) 523-2179 ext. 17 (or toll-free at 888-523-2179 ext. 17) or if you are ready to apply to be a Big please download the application below and mail to 4928 Homberg Drive; Knoxville, TN 37919 or fax to (865) 524-3466.
Be part of something BIG... ...when you're part of something BIG, you know that as little as an hour a week creates a lifetime of change.
